BMW DAY - Larz Anderson Lawn Event, Boston 2022
The Larz Anderson Auto Museum hosted another annual BMW Day, where over 60 BMW vehicles ranging from the 1934 315/1 Roadster to a brand new 2022 X5M SUV showed up to grace the lawns of the historic Larz Anderson estate.
Quick side note on the Larz Anderson history: Larz and Isabel Anderson were two wealthy Americans who bought an incredible collection of the first automobiles ever produced, starting in 1899. For the next 35 years, they bought a brand new car every year and stored their old and unused cars to be preserved. E39 M5 Group
New England has a strong club of E39 M5 collectors. While there were only 9,992 total E39 M5 cars sold in the USA, there’s a large number of them in the Greater Boston area. Some of the colors that showed up included: alpine white, sterling gray, royal red (a violet/burgundy-like color), titanium silver, black, and imola red.
2022 M5 CS
Speaking of M5’s, a special car came to the lawn today. A 2022 M5 CS (Competition Sport). Retailing over $142,000, the M5 CS is BMW’s most powerful production car ever - 627 horsepower. To my knowledge, there are only two M5 CS’s in New England. This car is spec’ed in frozen deep green metallic and looks very similar to a British racing green. There are no creature comforts on this vehicle. No adaptive cruise control. No assisted steering. Just pure driving experience.
BMW E30/E46/E90 M3
Perhaps the most represented car is the M3, in both the E30, E46 and E90/E92 models. Sadly, there were no E36 generation M3’s (from the early 1990’s) to represent New England. But there were plenty of rare optioned M3’s, including a Laguna Seca blue and a couple of Phoenix Yellow E46’s. One sported an individual phoenix yellow interior as well.
